Good luck! I've never bow fished, but it is something that's on my to do list. So how much does a good rig cost?

The sky is the limit. A top of the line completely rigged airboat can run 70-80K. A top of the fan boat can run upwards 40K. I use a rig w/ a trolling motor. I'm not in a lot of grass here in east tn. Or you can take a completely stripped jon boat and go out and have the time of your life for <300. Just depends on how addicted you become. lol.

If you already have an old bow the reel set up is about $150

I hope you plan on giving up most of your regular fishing time. It is absolutely addictive.

Check...I have a bow that I've been planning to rig up just haven't had the spare time to get everything together. I've got a house on Birdsong Creek and there's plenty of shallow water and flats prime for bow fishing. I gar fish with my fly rod and catch the crap out of them...I'm moving up there permanent in a year or so and plan on doing a lot of bow fishing.

Rooster, I bought a 1960's Bear TigerCat Recurve on ebay for $80. It has the brass insert that you can screw a reel holder into. I think it's 45# draw weight. I put a big Zebco push button reel on it and it does just fine. No need to throw a ton of money into it.

Whenever I get ahead, I'm wanting a little jon boat to also go up the creeks around here, and then find and old bow, and get a reel for it......I have a feeling after that 1st fish, I will be hooked for life lol

You'll never want to mess with a rod and reel again. I was a hardcore bass fisherman until I stuck my first fish. It's cost me a LOT of money and time over the years, but I wouldn't trade it for much of anything.

Thanks man. Yesir, I'll be there. We have my fanboat, brians airboat and Taylors rig. Even with Taylor working, I have a feeling those fish may have a bad year. \:\/

Here in the east, common carp, buffalo, drum, grass carp, spotted gar and longnose gar.
But if I shoot 100 fish/night, 75+ will be common carp.
