On Tuesday, March 5, the Middle Tennessee Chapter of QDMA will meet at the TWRA Region II Headquarters in the Ellington Agricultural Center. We are excited to have nationally renowned whitetail guru and QDM authority Dr. Craig Harper as our speaker. Dr. Harper will discuss all aspects of implementing a successful QDM program, including genetics, nutrition, age, and expectations.
Dr. Harper is famous for mixing science with his vast experience to create a common sense approach to successful food plots and whitetail management. He is a farmer, habitat manager, a speaker, a biologist, a hunter, a writer and a quality deer manager. Dr. Harper also recently survived a serious fall while checking one of his lock-on deer stands. With this array of experiences, I expect his seminar to be riveting.
We’re also extremely grateful to Tennessee Farmer’s Cooperative (TFC) for providing food and drinks for our social hour. The TFC and the Co-ops have come a long way from just helping local farmers. Now, they sell the same products to anyone wanting to grow things such as gardens, lawns, and even big deer!
Please come out a little early (around 6:00 p.m.) for some food and festivity. The program will start at 7:00. Hope to see you there!

Dr. Harper is one the best speakers out there. I never get tired of hearing his perspective. He is a wealth of knowledge on many aspects of habitat management, especially warm-season grasses, old-field management for wildlife, and various hardwood forest management techniques. He is one of the few people I know who is an expert in the use of fire as a management technique in hardwood environments.
