Anybody ever done it or seen it done? I've got a 12 ft SINK (sit in) and 12 ft SOT (sit on), seems that a fella ought to be able to slip up on the stumps with a jig pole and slay the crappie.
Figure it probably gets pretty choppy in open water, would probably hang around the perimeter of the lake. Would also want to set some yo-yos. Never been out on it in a boat, but there's bound to be trees in the lake with low limbs to tie them off on. Seen enough snakes to know I don't really want to be fooling with hanging them from a kayak along the bank.

I'd say pretty easy to capsize a kayak on a stump, especially with a little sideways wind-drift. Mud can be deeper than the water. Be sure to wear a good life jacket.

Shouldn't be much different than fishing with a Perot or small canoe .Keep to the edges and out of the open water.A lot would depend on how much experience you have with Kayaks,canoes,and perot's. I would definitely prefer the sit in vs the sit on. I've fished a lot out of a 10ft canoe you can fish a lot of back waters that other boats can't get to. I used a drift anchor a lot on windy days to slow down enough to fish. If you don't have much experience I wouldn't try it except on a very calm day..

I prefer the sit on most of the time, pull out the sit in when it's cold and want to stay dry and shielded from the wind. Good point about safety, I always wear a jacket in big water or rivers. Plenty of experience, but healthy respect for the water.
They're nice, stable yaks. Rigged up with rod holders, anchors, drag chains, fish finders, etc..

This past summer on White River below Bull Shoals. Beats the stew out of wading, keep right on fishing when they're generating.

The lake is big, and can get rough quick. Wait for a day with very little wind. You should be fine if you stay around the bank. Dont forget the bream with a jig pole and wax worms on the trees! It is a lot of fun, snakes are there, but wont bother you. Good luck.

I think your biggest safety issue will be the wind blowing you sideways onto an underwater stump.

I think the biggest safety issue would be a moccasin needing a place to rest. The yak would get small quickly.

In most of the places you'd be fishing, the cottonmouths are not that big of a threat, and contrary to local lore, they are not hanging from every tree. You'll find more of them where the water is shallower (commonly too shallow to be in a boat) and around the banks. Not saying you may not see one around deeper water, but most days if just fishing, you won't see one at all. Anytime they get in water very deep, there are some big old bowfin, big ole catfish, and sometimes a big ole bass that will go after even a big ole moccasin. I've seen bowfin take down some pretty big ones.

Those look like some nice rigs. I am about to order a nucanoe frontier within the next few weeks. I done a lot of research on them and they look really stable.

Nice looking Yaks, and yes I would perfer the sit on, I have been to The white, buffalo, Spring, and Bull Shoals many times.
But as all others have mentions would be the wind and stumps.
