I want a 30 06 with a 24" barrel. Not sure which one is the best, the Icon or the Vanguard. Any comments?

If it were me, I'd go with the Icon. My best friend has one in .270 and it reminds me of a semi-custom built gun (trigger, accuracy, bolt, etc). He has been more than happy with his purchase since the day he got it.

I have a Vanduard S2 in .257 Weatherby mag and it is awesome. Shoots MOA all day with good factory ammo and the factory stock is actually pretty good.

My brother-in-law bought a vanguard s2 .270 from a member here and he said its a tack driver and loves it.

I have a TC ICON in 30 TC and one in 22-250 and I also have a Weatherby Vanguard in 300 WBY Mag. They all shoot great, but in my opinion the ICON is a better made rifle in all respects. I also have a Winchester Model 70 in 270 WIN and a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag and the ICON feels like a better made rifle than either of those. It's the best made, most accurate rifle that I own. I have not tried the new version of the Vanguard, so I'm not sure how different it is from the previous version that I have.
Are you looking at the ICON Classic with the walnut stock or the ICON Weather Shield with the Hogue synthetic stock?
