Good luck down there if you're going. Shoot 'em up. I had the shoot dates scheduled off for vacation and was planning on going to it. But when I started talking to some of my buddies that shoot a lot of the ASA shoots, they all said it was one of their least favorites to go to, and most of them weren't going this year even though it is one of the closer shoots to us. So they kind of talked me out of going. I WILL be in Kentucky and the Classic in Cullman, AL though, good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

Yeah having shooting friends is a good thing for travelling. But at the shoot you will be put in groups with random people and start on a designated target somewhere between 1-20 and most likely wont be with any buddies. The main thing is to remember the #1 rule....which is "Don't get excited". lol. I was worried about getting with a bad group of folks and everybody assured me that 95% of the people at these shoots are great folks. And I got in a group with one of those guys in that other 5%. He had everybody ready to strangle him by the end of the first day. I've never been to the shoot down there. I was just going by what we were told by several folks we know that go to them every year.
I didn't like that it is on a military base but mostly because I carry my pistol everywhere I travel and I figured that would be a NO NO on a base and didn't feel comfortable with leaving it at the hotel room.

you missed out on a good shoot. the people of phenix city are great and are truly happy that you are there. if they have the shoot-down in the columbus auditorium, it is the best shootdown out of all the pro/ams.

As horrible as I've shot in the last two local shoots, it's probably a good thing I'm not going. hahaha
We went to the Classic last yr in Cullman, AL. I liked it okay...although there ain't much there other than Lake Guntersville just up the road....then the Florida Pro/Am in Newberry/Gainesville. I didn't care for Gainesville at all...too big of a city for my liking but Newberry was nice. 70 degrees was a nice break from the cold/rain/sleet in TN for early February.
