This might be a silly post but I'm no rock man and have never even found an arrowhead... Until about a year or two ago i wouldn't even waste my time looking down. now that a friends found a cool piece or two I've started to look for about 10 or 15 minutes when I cross a good looking spot. That's about all I can handle before I start going cross eyed trying to pick out a rock amongst millions of other rocks. Yesterday I found something "different" for the first time. I've found what people call indian money as a kid and this ain't that. Looks like some kind of fossilized larvae maybe??? It's hard to explain everything without seeing it but it appears to have something like a larvae wrapped in a shell. The larvae inside almost has a ivory tint and shine to it after we cleaned it up just a bit? I'm sure all you fellas will know...

Here's where you can best see the rounded inside thing?

A look straight down into it where you can see the rounded inside that's got that ivory/quartz kind is shine/look

Looks like a crinoid fossil, AKA indian money as some have called them although Indians never used them as money. They where a plant that grew on the bottom of rivers/lakes millions of years ago.

I just read your post....haha. Man, to me it does look indian moneyish, that stuff comes in all sorts of different sizes and shapes, yours looks like a lot of the mineral has fallen out from between the grooves giving it the appearence of something other than indian money but Im far from a geologist! Maybe someone else will chime in on it but my final answer is crinoid.

I agree. I think the "ivory" looking stuff is calcite, but not 100% sure.
