nice deer, just not uncommon in many areas of the north...

again..nice deer.

thanks

SCI is not a guide service. It is a trophy scoring method and a organization that protects hunting. SCI has a membership of over 55,000 members in 190 chapters around the globe. Mostly in the US and some in Canada. Check ou the link. http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/home

Yes, I am a outfitter. See bottom of page.

Yes, large racked deer are somewhat common up here, but not as big bodied or as wide as this deer. I was to several horn scoring events across the province, which is quite large, and there has been on average at least 4 to 8 book deer at each with a large number of deer (50-75) that score in the 145"-165" range. Most mature big racked bucks are in the 240-300 lbs range.

With that being said there has been a number of deer at some of these events that score higher than mine in the 212" to 248" range, but I could set every one of those deer inside of my deer rack and it made the others look small. So I have to disagree that my whitetail in particular is anything but common.

Don't mind him, SCO. It's not uncommon to sigh and shake your head after reading his posts.

what was wrong with my post? Simple questions, simple statements....Didn't downplay the hunter or the deer, just mentioned that there are bigger deer up north than we are used to seeing here...hence, not uncommon.....

I could post anything and I have no doubt someone would find something wrong with it...

Your name suits you vermin....lol!!!!

BH, the only one who can subtly provoke negative reactions and then act like the victim when people call him out on it....

Seriously BH why do you do it? This is not a personal attack. It is, as you would say, simple questions, simple statements...... lol

BH, if you don't realize that your post marginalized his incredible deer then that would explain a lot. One of the congratulatory posts is not like the others. Hint - it's yours. There is nothing "not uncommon" about that deer regardless of where in North America he shot it.

Back on topic - great story, SCO. It would have been nice to get him last year, but better late than never!

I know I didn't ask what SCI was, but thank you so much for explaining it in detail, cause I too had no idea what it was.

Great story, great deer, and again great first post!

I'm getting more interested in SCI now..... Might consider looking into it. Only thing keeping me with B&C is that's what most people are familiar with.

Yes guy's and/or gal's that was what I was thinking just by the response of questions about SCI. And yes, while they do recognize high fence hunting they also recognize all other methods of take including hand gun's, as well as other regions and 100% free range.

I was talking to the TN SCI chapter president Keith Watson yesterday for a short time (He was at the shooting range with some kids so he had limited time) and I believe he told me that they were offering a scoring class around the time of thier banquet coming up on March 9th. Here is the link to your local TN chapter again http://www.chattanoogachaptersci.org/index.html Just go to the "Contact Us" page and there are several board members listed there. Get involved with the chapter and learn more about SCI. I believe Chattanooga is in the far south east part of the state. If it is something that you are interested in I am sure that there is room to start a chapter in the west or north west.

If you just want a measurer there is 15 listed on the SCI website. Just click on this link http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/home and then click Record Book, then click #6.Measurer Locator on the right side and enter your zip code or just USA and scroll down to the TN listings.
