The owners of the lodge who also owned a business here in knoxville, got raided by the FBI, IRS, and treasury dept this morning. When 50 federal agents show up at your office and cart out boxes of stuff. It has hit the fan.

I said last fall it was a scam, and got berated here for saying so. Seems my gut feeling and what I knew was dead on.

If the rumors about the laws which were broken are true, there is serious prison time ahead.

Big trouble for all involved if the allegations are accurate and for a good friend who works for them I hope he is clear of any wrong doing. My prayers are with he and his family, but not the owners.

The IRS and Treasury don't show up for crap like murder. The FBI is along to proceed with search and seizure operations of files, computers, etc etc.

I hope you know they award prison time for crimes other than murder.

Maybe you could enlighten us and tell us what they did.

Game law violators very seldom get serious jail time.
The deer poachers from Ft.Campbell did zero time in jail.
I'm pretty sure the feds were involved there also.

Did you not read the original post I made? This is centered around a business which is owned by the owners of Cornbelt Whitetails. This has nothing to do with game law violations, although that list could be lengthy if witnesses had dropped the dime over the years to rumored occurrences. I wasn't there, so they are rumors, but what I have been told by reliable sources would make everyone here sick.

Before anyone else asks, I'm not going to post any specifics of allegations until they are filed. I have heard all sorts of stuff, and it makes sense to me, but at this point it is speculation.

One thing is for certain, if the FBI, IRS, and Treasury show up at your business and seize a bunch of stuff, things are going to go very badly for the guilty parties. Those agencies don't show up on a hunch or take chances, and to dispatch that many officials, it is a clear sign of how bad this could be.

Don't know much about this incident, but I do know that Cornbelt got busted posting a picture of a deer that they claimed was on their property, but was actually taken from a trail camera in Kansas in about 2009-2010. They photo shopped the picture to take out the corn feeder in the background, but someone on ArcheryTalk caught it and posted the original picture as proof. Caused quite a stir and I really thought that would have been the end of them then.

wow that'll ruin a day. I had a buddy get an offer to guide up there glad he didn't take it! reviews on that place isn't great either. that's what I told him because I looked at going up there and it seemed kinda sketchy like Hadley creek. id say that itd spill over to the outfitting business also. and by its all over and done with both businesses will be done with a major crime list. and jre I saw that same thing on archery talk that's was all I needed to know I didn't want to go up there. thanks for sharing please keep us updated.

Hmmmm. If they're guilty of , whatever crimes they are accused of, I hope they do the max time in prison...but I would not lend credence their guilt just b/c a hoard of govt officials descended upon them. ;\)

This business did MUCH MUCH more than just own Cornbelt Whitetails. With the kind of attn they got, and from the agencies involved, the outfitting business is far from the root cause!

I have yet to see anyone imply that the outfitting service was the root cause, or a cause at all in yesterdays events. The service will more than likely be gone after this, but they are not the cause, and probably the by product of the reasons why the feds showed up yesterday.

If anything the outfitting service is evidence and nothing more.

The outfitter has flirted with the law enough on their own over the years, but yesterdays events have to do with business stuff that went on with the company the owners of Cornbelt also owned in Knoxville.

Don't worry, the Department of Justice said today they are going after Lance Armstrong and not Jon Corzine.

It's all about who you know at the top. Eric Holder is a bad, bad A.G. don't you think?

There were rumors flying all around about this last year. Then, it died down and this is the first I have heard in quite some time.

As with you, if the rumors I heard re game violations are true,( I suspect some are) it is somewhat the norm for some of the operations up there. However, I did hear some that were a little beyond normal.

As with you, that is all I will say. I know nothing about the businesses in Knoxville. All I know from last year's talk is the connection to the outfitting service, not what was going on.

That sort of opened the floodgate of allegations for a while. I do not know of any specific allegation that was prosecuted or confirmed by an arrest.

Insurance fraud and tax fraud.

Joe's strick "Christian" beliefs caught up with him. I loved the comment on wate:

"Bible study at lunch, insurance fraud at 1pm"

I was there for the $1,900 fraud and bible study. Hope he paid attention to what God said.
