I got myself a Mahindra 6530 for use around the family farm in North Mississippi. I got a chance last week to start clearing a spot before turkey season. ( http://youtu.be/rBmHcaCgnrw ) I'm interested in doing a few food plots to keep deer (and small game) on our hunting area. I'm not trying to grow gigantic trophy bucks but I just wanna be able to keep game around.

Can anybody point me to some good references or make recommendations?

Looks like your off to a great start with that tractor!! Congrats on a huge piece of land management pie!! lol

I think the greatest book on getting started on plotting is the QDMA food plot book. You can buy in on there website, or on amazon best i remember. It is a great collective overview of plots, why you need them, how to do them, and it even has little chapters on tons of crops and clovers, and even weeds you will encounter along the way.

I look at my copy all the time, as I always notice something new or remember something I forgot.

Good luck and most importantly, keep it fun!!
