When my kids were little, sometimes we temporarily housed a passing box turtle, setting him up with a "camp" in the yard and supplemental feedings of canned dog food and fresh fruits. They'd usually stay several days to a week, then move on to deal with important things like finding a wintering spot or breeding partner. But we've never had a turtle dalliance in TN 
I didn't think you had. I just put it out there as general info. We see the ads on Craig's List every week.

Turtles are illegal no matter the source.
The tortoises voiolate no TWRA regulations.
