Hey guys,
Squirrel season is winding down quick and I am ill prepared to start working on recipes for the World Squirrel Cookoff in September. If you can get out this weekend , nab some squirrels and freeze them, maybe we can meet up sometime this Spring?
I'm out in Fayette and Haywood counties somewhat frequently as well.

LOL, early in our squirrel hunt the Brooklyn boys started asking me about the cookoff. Said they'd heard I was quite the squirrel cooker, and so I thought, heck, I'm gonna roll with it, won't do no harm. So I blew some smoke hoping they'd move on. Then they ask where the cookoff will be held, and I thought, well k rap. So I came clean and told them you were the man, I was just a poor substitute.
So, where is the cookoff, just in case I get interviewed as you again?

Spring Squirrel season can be very hit or miss when hunting in the woods. If you hit a good day, it can be productive, though. I'll need to get on it while that season is open.

-had a few rough days this Winter and didn't see any squirrels. I do have a few in the freezer, but I have a lot of test cooking to do.

My neighborhood is covered up with them, but hunting them in the woods is a different game all together.

This thread is music to my ears. My son has been wanting to go again, but I don't like cleaning them or cooking them. My club in Fayette County is full of them. If he wants to go Saturday instead of fishing I will hook you up. I would prefer to deliver them fresh though. If it was going to be good and cold Saturday it would be a no brainer.
