I watched you whip up a LB and I watched you walk down my barrel. This year you will flop and die.

I would love to see the single jake that whips a long beard to get to a hen. Maybe I need to spend a little more time in the woods. Run past a long beard I've seen, but never whip a long beard in a one on one fight.
Nature in its wisdom makes this virtually impossible unless the long beard is injured or sick. The weight and strength difference is impossible to overcome

not so sure, I whipped a guy one time much larger then me HAHA
i mean if the LB is fat and overweight/out of shape, then a young quick strike can be lethal lol

I've never seen a single jake that had enough balls to fight a longbeard one on one.

I never have either. I also couldn't see just one make whipping a longbeard. I have seen a group of seven jakes chase a two year old though. I know it was two because I later killed it.

Well I understand what ya'll are saying but it is not impossible. I saw it too.
Single longbeard, much bigger than the jake, and a single jake squared off.
The jake kicked the longbeards arse till the longbeard ran away. The jake left too, with the hen.

I'm not saying it didn't happen because I wasn't there, but it seems unlikely. I have killed a 17 lb jake and I've seen a 13 lb longbeard killed (it was like a midget--weird) but your average 2 yr old versus your average jake i think the 2 yr old wins every time. Perhaps it was a mature turkey with beard rot? Or maybe just a badass jake

Maybe I should get out more. Is there really more than deer hunting???
More than sitting in a tree waiting on a deer to walk by? Yes, definitely!

Or maybe it happened just like two respected mods said it happened. After all, they were there!

Which is why I prefaced my statement the way it did and supplied reasonable explanation for how it would happen.

Naw, easier to belittle and try to prove wrong.
Great thing is, I don't care.

Same for me, I've seen stuff I don't even talk about at the risk of being laughed at or called stupid.
I just stated a fact that in all of my time chasing turkeys, I have never seen or even heard anything like the original post.

If it makes you feel better I won't laugh at you for that, I saw one gobbling this past fall from my treestand. Granted it wasn't the best gobble I ever heard, but it was a gobble.

This was the same way we thought they were jakes until they were about 30 yds away and could tell.they were adult hens

There's a vid floating around YouTube of a hen strutting and gobbling.

Dead turkey! Several years ago I had a longbeard coming across the field to the hens and a group of jakes flew a creek and ran in. They chased him off and then fed away. Was waiting for them to get out of site and was going to try and circle up on the ridge to get in front of the gobbler. Well the jakes got almost out of site and turned around and started back. Told my brother if they come back in range I'm killing one of them. They did and one went home with me.

I've seen a group of jakes run off a coyote. I guess that jakes, like teenagers, sometimes have more balls than sense.
