Just wondering, and no, not one myself, but when buying a hunting license, why isnt there a way to check and see if a person is allowed to have a license due to being a felon. I understand that they may hunt with a bow or black powder, but when checked in the field, an officer doesent have any way to tell. Seems like it would be a special license stateing what this person is allowed to hunt with. We all make mistakes, not down on anyone, but I know this happens.

It is not a violation for a convicted felon to buy a license. It MAY be a violation if they use a certain type of weapon. Special licenses for certain weapons would be way too complicated for our license agents to deal with and we choose not to put them in the "enforcement" arena in dealing with the issue.
If you know of someone violating federal law dealing with illegal possession of weapons, give the ATF or your local sheriff's dept. a call and they can look into the situation.
