Anyone brew their own beer here? THis is something I'd like to get into since I like the micro brewery beers so much.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but I promise that I will hurt you.

I think BamaProud does.

Look for a homebrew club in your area. I bet most big cities in TN have one.

That would be fun. Good friend of mine used to brew his own beer.

I do.

Here's a PM i recently sent another member who inquired about beer/wine making:

Another site I have referenced a lot (mostly for beer making) is this talk forum.

There really isn't anything better than just doing it. If you know someone that does it I am sure they would be glad to let you help/watch.

You will need a basic brewing kit to get started. Something like this:

The wine and beer kits are pretty much interchangeable. I will be bottling my wine in 24oz beer bottles the same way I bottle my beer since that is what I already have.

Its up to you how "from scratch" or "pre-packaged" you want to be when making your beverage. you can start from fruit/grain a combination of fruit & concentrates/grain malts(essentially grain concentrates). I'd recommend starting with a pre-packaged ingredient kit like this:

Hope that helps
===>Its fun, I am actually thinking about getting more equipment so I can have multiple batches brewing at once or a batch or beer going why whine is fermenting. A batch of beer takes a couple hours to brew, a week to ferment, a couple hours to bottle and in ready to drink after about 5 weeks in the bottle(although its probably at peak flavor after about 4-6 months) Wine takes only about an hour on day 1, has to ferment for about 5 weeks, then needs to age in the bottle for another couple of months before drinking.

If anyone wants to brew one day in west TN, let me know I'm no expert but I'd be happy to show you the way I do it.

Used to, neighbor and I did it together...Its a lot more fun with a friend.

Its not hard and the beer is really good, I highly recommend the "flip top" bottles much easier than capping.

One time we decided to make the cheapest beer we could..used corn sugar and made it for about 50 cents a six pack. It wasn't very good and we tended to mix it with something else. Most batches we made we drank in a couple of weeks. One of these sat around for a year or more and I decided to go ahead and drink it. I swear to you once it got old it tasted just like Corona. LOL
