It was not surprising to read that for the GOP to survive, they have to become more like the Dems.
My position on this is in 2 parts;
1) The Republicans have already become very, very "like" the Democrats. The 'establishment' Republicans (Karl Rove, McCain, Boehner, Cantor, etc) are Progressives themselves, they are big-government 'moderates'--just not as Liberal as the Democrats.
2) Unless the Republican Party rids itself of this element, and actually makes peace with its Tea Party/Libertarian base, it might as well put a moving sign it its yard. The Republicans have to seperate themselves idealogically from the Democrats, and the only way to do this is to out the (D)'s as the Progressives they are, and lift themselves above it by embracing our Conservatism.
To fail is to die.
