We will get nowhere by letting the states try to resist on our behalf. It's going to take resistance from the people to get the point across.

The sad fact is that a fed judge recently said that fed law always overrides state law,in plain terms doesn't matter what the state wants the feds set the rules/law.$ will be the deciding factor i'm afraid

Wow from the people on this site that have constantly said write call your congressmen, senators and so fourth. To say it doesnt matter its posturing. What a shame. You bad mouth people that stated the same things during the obama care before it came into law. They said what good does it do. Now your going to come out in say it at the state level.

So when in turn you must believe the Fed gov runs the state then. Wow

The Judge that said the Feds laws over ride state laws is dead wrong.

Oh the people need to stand up more then just by writing to these people. But we truely know were that will go based on responses.

Thanks Mup for writting

Until they put term limits on these long term positions not much is going to change,I don't understand how they keep getting reelected time after time with the trash they pass.Coarse hiding the real item out of the front pages of the bill lets stuff get passed as few read all of the Pork once they see that theirs is in it \:\( ,There needs to be a major revamping & down sizing as too many fingers are in the jar imo

By the time average hunter gets their thumbs out, it will be far too late.

Go ahead, sit on your hands while the few do the heavy lifting.

Samuel Adams knew you even back then:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Sorry to say that I did not see this until it was to late. I will say that I do not believe that there is much that the few of us can do but Stalkhunter I do agree that those that do nothing have no room to complain. I do think that there is any way that the feds will allow the state to govern its' self but that does not stop it from rising against. While I was in Iraq there was something that my dad said to me every time that we were able to talk and that was "rise above". Maybe, just maybe, we do have a few politicians that will rise above all of the bs and do what they are called to do. All we can do is hope and call and email everyone that we can instead of sitting on our hands like the punished child that our potus thinks we are.

Well the Attorney General Said the Bill is unconstitution based on Supreme Court Supremecy law. So it wont go forward. Attoreny Genearl is wrong. State can nullify all fed laws.
http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2013/op13-14.pdf

Interpitation is wrong the Supremecy clause is wrong and the Gun ban violates 2nd ammendment and Constitution. State bill supports the 2 ammnedment and the Constitution.

Came up to a 4-4 tie in committee today, Sen.s Lowe Finney, Brian Kelsey, Doug Overby and John Stevens voted against he bill, Sen.s Campfield, Green, Gardenhire and the venerable Mike Bell voted in favor of.

Administration's boy came to the table (at Lowe Finney's request of all things, a Democrat using the Republicans against us) and defended his boss's stance of being Obama's favorite Republican Governor by throwing in his $.02 worth that it was a "BAD" bill.

No, Haslam and Ramsey have decided that they will not allow this in Tennessee. Might get in the way of picking up a Federal Grant. Haslam has a record to protect, Obama thinks he is the "Best" Republican Governor out there, can't do or allow anything to besmirch that opinion.

Notice that Finney made the Administration declare itself, Kelsey should have fended that one off, but he did not, so now Haslam is on the record.

Don't have to, Tennessee is not going to pass anything that Obama does not expressly approve. He has us on our knees...

No reason not to believe this would not pass. But it made some look good. But heck Haslam and Ramsey got voted in and they love the Obumer so they will protect him and the Fed dollors.

As Ted Nuggent said when are we just going to say no and get in their faces.

I fourth the motion. Remember the hundreds of thousands of Tea Partiers that marched on the Washington Mall in opposition to Obamacare a few years ago? Where did that get us. Google it to see the YouTube videos.

He hasn't replied to mine...... I'm not a Maryvillian, but his district borders mine and I have friends all through his district. I am to the point where I don't think anything federal is going to pass, so he may have dodged the bullet. But you can bet that vote will be a problem for him next year. He had a chance to stand up to Obama, even if only symbolically, and he flopped. One now has to worry what he will do if, or when, a federal bill is passed. In other words, he can't be trusted.

I've read the bill, haven't had time to think it through. However, as a fellow Maryvillian I'd like to know why Doug Overby voted against the bill. I just asked him. We'll see what he says.

Be interesting to see if Overbey replies to my email. I simply asked him why he didn't support it. One sentence. As soon as I hear, if I hear, I'll post it here.

Thought some of you might like to know that Mr. Doug Overbey replied to my email sent on 2/28. I guess I should say that he/his staff/automation/? replied on 3/18. I thought you might get a quick out of it...
I simply asked, one question, one sentence, "Mr. Overbey, I'd like to know why yesterday in committee you voted against Senate Bill 250.
Thank you for your time."

Here is the reply I got on 3/18:

Thank you for your thoughtful email. You make several good points which I will bear in mind as this bill works its way through the legislative process. I appreciate your sharing your thoughts and views with me.

Sincerely,
Senator Doug Overbey

I understand they have so many questions/emails that there are going to be canned responses. But, I guess to know for sure that no one even looked at my one sentence email may say volumes to me about this particluar politician. I guess I shouldn't be surprised; maybe it's not worth mentioning, but I thought I would. I'm thinking about faxing my email and his reply to his office to see if anyone cares/notices.
