I have an 11 yr old son who is Type 1. He was diagnosed when he was 9. He wears an insulin pump and checks his blood sugar every 2 hrs or so when he is awake. He has to calculate the carbs in everything he eats and give insulin for it. It has been a learning experience but he has not let it slow him down. He has always been a picture of perfect health and is a great athlete. He has never once complained about it or used it as an excuse. To say I was devastated when he was diagnosed would be an understatement. To say he is an exceptional child would be an even bigger one.

I had bariatric surgery on December the 18th and have lost 57 pounds and do not have to take any Diabetes meds anymore and don't have to take blood pressure meds anymore. I was on Blood pressure medicine for twenty years.

Yep, that's about right - walking is good - limit carb intake - I need to get back on my 'pre' diet -
