I like the rolling cooler idea. I was thinking of engraved whiskey flasks. I paid a large chunk of the tux rentals for my groomsmen and got them a little something as well.

Not sure when the tradition started, but with the cost of tux rentals (if you go that route). Especially if you have groomsmen coming in from out of town and needing a place to stay, money can add up. I think the gift is just a simple token of gratitude.

A Leatheman is a good gift, or a handheld GPS if not too many.

I was in several weddings over the years, and I don't remember ever getting anything, nor did I expect it. If their feelings might be hurt because they don't get a gift, then maybe they aren't true friends.

The amount of money people are spending on weddings these days astounds me.

Congrats BTW! \:\) !

As long as I can remember. I've been in 8 or 9 weddings, my first was probably 12 years ago and I have been giving a groomsman gift for every one. Most were pocket knives but I got one tie and one money clip.

Sorry, but all groomsmen's gifts are LAME! From the cheap pocket knifes, to cuff links, to mugs/steins, buckles, pens, what have you, no one is going to want this crap. If you only have a couple groomsmen and can afford a quality knife that would be different.

So, why not make a statement? Buy each one of your groomsmen a replica medieval sword! Yes, because it will be crazy and useless just like any other gift, but this will be memorable, make a statement, and make sure they open the gift in front of the whole wedding party!
