Are the park areas around TWRA lakes open for small game hunting? Herb Parsons, Glenn Springs, etc.?

TAFKAP let us know what you find out. I would not think so for Herb parson as I have never seen anyone out their hunting but maybe because no one asked?

I looked into this before. What I recall was that Herb Parsons was all safety zone. The land around Glen Springs I don't recall, but it seemed like the land holdings around the bank weren't that big. Maybe my memory is incorrect there.

Whiteville Lake allows duck hunting on the water, but there's almost zero huntable land around the banks (the property line has like a 30 foot buffer zone around it. Technically that strip of dirt is legal and well marked, but I walked bits of it last year while on the lake and it is very narrow.

I forgot about this, and finally remembered to check in and call.....on Presidents' Day....to a State Agency.

Dang. Try again tomorrow.

Finally remembered to call into the Region 1 office. I spoke with Arlene for quite a bit. Basically, the TWRA lakes not listed specifically for hunting in the guide are "NO HUNTING" zones....Herb Parsons, Glenn Springs, etc. are recreational areas only.

However, she spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone looking up non-WMA lands (not published in the books) that are open for hunting. She emailed me the maps of areas that were close. Gread lady, and very helpful. TWRA has a great resource with Arlene.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
