11-87 20 gauge with a 26" barrel and a Pure Gold .570. What would you try? I know I'll try Hevi 7's. Thought about the Federal 7's but not sure if the ported choke would do right or not with the FC wad. Thanks for any suggestions.

One of those two should do it.

I have the indian creek in my 20ga mossberg, ported also. The hevi 7s are great through it. I was curious about the federal 7s with flightcontrol so i bought a box yesterday to try. They shoot about the same as the hevi 7s. One thing i noticed is the federal 7s seemed to hit harder. The wadding was hitting the target at thirty yards. If I'm not mistaken my choke is tighter than 570, maybe 550 or 555. I shot all five federal 7s i had and every shot hit perfect. I wish i had bought two boxes cause bass pro is the only place i have found them. Both shells work great out of my 20ga mossberg out to forty.

x2. I would shoot the Federals through the Pure Gold choke as well as a Remington 20 gauge Turkey Super Full Extended to see which one shot best. If your gun did not come with Rem Turkey Super Full choke, you can pick one up for $25 or so. There is no doubt the Federal HWs #7s are going to hit harder than Hevi #7s. It is just a matter of will your gun pattern them to your liking or not with the choke you decide to shoot. Let us know how you fare.

Cheaper Than Dirt appears to have them in stock. You may want to call them to confirm this if you decide to place an order. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/2-FEPHT258F7

I will let you know. Pure Gold makes a choke specifically for the Federals but thats not the one I have. I just picked up the ported version because I was able to get it for 25 bucks so I thought it was a no brainer buy when they are alot more than that new.

Thanks for the link. They have them but shipping cost more than the box of shells. I'm trying to get a friend to order some at his work. So i won't have to drive so far.

I also have the Indian Creek tube (.555) and the Federal HWT 7's are unbelievable! Had 175 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards. Didn't notice the warnings until after I had shot the Fed's though.
The Hevi Mag Blends shot second best at 120 pellets and the Hevi 6's where a close 3rd at 115.
Think I'm going to go with the Mag Blends and possibly shot the 6's too.
Everything I have shot will kill a turkey out at forty yard with this choke. Lead shells where not very good at farther distances.
There is an Academy Sports close to home that sells the Hevi 5's and 6's for $13 a box.
I'm in the process of setting my son's 20 ga up for turkey season.

If your gun will pattern them acceptably, I'd go with the Federal Heavyweights in #7 shot. Those particular Federals have comparable per pellet energy (Fed #7) to the Hevi-13 #6 pellets.

IMO, Federal makes the most awesome 20 ga. turkey load on the commercial market, and it's significantly more potent than ANYTHING else you can buy. Also note their 20 ga. turkey load is packing 1 1/2 ounce of shot, compared to most others packing 1 1/4 ounce. Remains a mystery as to why Federal doesn't load up their 12 ga. Heavyweights with more than 1 7/8 oz shot considering they've found a way to stuff in 1 1/2 oz in a 20 ga.

I shoot a Benelli M2 20 gauge with Indian Creek 555 choke. It shoots the Hevi 13 #6. Awesome setup that has put many gobblers on the ground.

I'm thinking it might be a price issue.

I started off with Hevi #7 this year and an IC .555 and it throws a sick pattern at 40 yards. But I wanted a little more pop. So I am going to go with a Remington SF choke and Federal Heavyweight #7. You will most likely want a bigger diameter choke for the Heavyweights, like a .570 - .575 range. A lot of guys are getting better numbers and patterns with that size choke. They are getting anywhere from 130's to 180's.
