recipe. I thawed out three packs of venison tenderloin to make Tennessee fruit rollups (poppers) for my kids and grandkids today. Unfortunately, everyone had to cancel because of various degrees of colds, flu, etc. Now, I've got all of this venison thawed out.

If anyone has an easy (I emphasize easy) recipe for stew I could sure use it. No way could I eat this much venison by myself but a good stew I could eat for a few days. Thanks

I would put in in a crock pot like a roast. Potatoes, carrots, celery, and my fav seasoning for roast lipton onion soup mix. A few extra spices of your own and your good to go.

You can buy a frozen veggie stew mixture in the frozen food section and add a couple of cans of stewed tomatoes and a couple of beef bouillon cubes and cook on medium heat till the meat is done. Also very important, probably the most important thing, make some CORNBREAD!!!!!

Low and slow...got it! haha Always make cornbread is my motto too! But, I'm kinda thinking an old fashion beef (venison) stew...sopping one like granny used to make...I could just make Homeless Soup but I'd like to try a stew...Johnny, I'm going to go see if I can find that stew mix...sounds like that would be pretty easy...

There's some good venison stew recipes online. Some are simpler than others. Some use water and others use stock or broth. Here's a few with good reviews. I have made Emeril's recipe and it's really good.

STew's the easiest food to make.

Cube the tenderloin into 1" squares. Liberally salt & pepper the meat while you:
Dice 3/4 cup of each: carrot, celery, onion
Mince (finely chop) 3 cloves of garlic. And when you think it's finely chopped, run the knife over it for another 5 minutes
Cut about 1/2 a pound of potatoes into 1" cubes and 1/2 lb of carrots

Brown meat in batches in a large dutch oven or soup pot (do it in batches so that the meat never touches the piece next to it). Use medium-high heat and just a little olive oil. Remove from heat.

Add 1 large pat of butter to the bottom of your pot where you just browned the meat. Stir the celery/carrot/onion chop around for about 5 minutes. Add just a pinch of salt to it when you first put them in. Use this time to scrape the meat bits off the bottom of the pot. After 5 minutes, add your garlic and turn down the heat. Drop in about 1 tbsp of tomato paste and stir it around long enough to coat everything in the pan.

Turn the heat on high for a minute, then add about 2C of some GOOD beef stock. While it spits and sputters, scrape the bottom of the pan clean. Drop the meat in, bring liquid back to a low boil, then drop the heat to low and let it sit. Or, cover the pot and put it into a 350 oven for a few hours.
