Do you guys still trap turkeys where there's an overabundant population and relocate them to other parts of the state?

I trap turkeys with my 12 gauge where there's an overabundant population and relocate them to the dinner plate!

Not sure but I think I heard TWRA doesn't stock turkeys anymore, but someone from the agency could confirm it...

fall season 6 birds per hunter per county, how many guys do you want shooting em in the fall? I remember you saying you dont want gun shots during bow season, but if the deer don't come around the birds anyway....

I can't remember if it was posted here or said during a presentation at the vous but no, they do not trap and re-stock turkey anymore.

Basically they said there are plenty in every county now and the cost of trapping and relocating far exceeds the need.

Yeah that's what I don't like about the fall season. It's right when the deer hunting is getting good and the birds haven't flocked up that large yet. I'm going to have to do something though. Going to look into it hard this fall. Maybe get 4 or 5 of us I can trust stuffed in a make shift blind and just open up like a firing squad!!! Kinda like old time war...Closer...closer...closer...steady... get ready... aim... FIRE!!! LOL...

In the fall their brave they just stare at you in the deer stand, they don't care your there LITERALLY! We could setup a camera on a tripod and film it! I bet that get some tree huggers worked up! I like duck hunting so I reckon that would kinda be similar...

That would make an awesome video but I could see the bag limit accidentally being exceeded... all that shooting and flopping and flying birds and you could lose track easily. Maybe have people set up on tree stands, blinds, or just on the ground from different angles and make sure you only shoot in your safe window, see how many birds can be taken out before they completely fly away. Just a thought. If given the chance I will kill 6 there in a day or two.
