Their advice, "Give us everything we want and you'll be loved"
Sand down the party’s rough edges. Pass education bills and immigration legislation. Stop screaming about red ink and spending too much. This one is going to be tough, since House Republicans haven’t been able to pass a bill called the Violence Against Woman Act for more than a year.
It’s a nagging problem for the party, whose main legislative agenda has been opposing President Barack Obama.

It was not surprising to read that for the GOP to survive, they have to become more like the Dems.

it is too late. we enter the area of entitlement with no worry how to pay for it. read some of the responses underneath the article, these people are ready for socialism.
Exactly, plus too many Americans depend on government now.

The Dems are successful because they are all nuts and stick together like a family. There is no way we Pubs are going to do that. You can't get a voter that believes in right to life compromise over to right to choose. Ain't gonna happen. That is just one example.
We do need change though. If we continue divided we are doomed to be a statistic in the history books.

they are not the problem. they are holding the basic ideals that have made this nation great- free enterprise, fiscal responsibility, strong national defense and christian values. the problem is 51% (and growing) only care about living an easy life on government handouts. we r screwed. national pride has been ravaged by a since of entitlement and the concept that it acceptable to enslave those who prosper.

The GOP has not lost it's way. We just have a powerful group of liberal career politicians resisting the younger, Tea Party and libertarian surge of new members. The Media LOVES to put a spotlight on this and make the GOP appear to be in turmoil while ignoring the Democrats who who are in revolt in their own party. for the GOP to survive, we'll need to continue the purge. If it dies, so do we. The McCains, Roves and Grahams have GOT to go but they wont' go without a fight (or screaming like a little girl) 
And THIS, my friends, is the crux of the problem.
The (R) sheep keep voting for the same old tired, worn out, (R) Progressives, and keep on letting Karl Rove and his cronies tell us how to "fix" the Party.
The only way to "fix" it is to get rid of the Progressives that have infested it.
