What is the fastest growing fruit tree? How long does it take for the tree to start producing?

Pears probably and it depends on what you mean produce? You'll start getting some in 3 to 5 years depending how old they are when you get them.

I agree ,some will have a couple the first year even, but it takes several years to get production enough to influence deer to come feed.Probably 5 to 7 years. Its true what you read on web sites, when they say produce in 2 years, just not much production.

Pears and southern crabapple are the best trees for me. I tried regular apple and they died after struggling for 5 years.

All depends on what you want it for. For deer, it would be hard to beat almost any semi dwarf pear, although I am getting close with most of my apples and crabapples. For a home planting it would be hard to beat a good apple on dwarf roots like B9. As for the time, that is all extremely variable and has alot of "depends".
