I have a general question about ammo. My Father in law brought a 270 Weatherby Mag with him and let me borrow it last night. He gave me 2 1/2 boxes of ammo from around late 70's early 80's. Ammo looks good (no corrosion) it was kept inside from what I know.
It's a shame, because the boxes are cool and vintage looking, but the cheapest ammo I can find is $39.99 and the goes to $59.99 at the next level. That is for 20 bullets.
will it be safe to shoot the ammo he brought?
I would assume yes, but I'm not too sure about my feeling. I'd hate to have to buy $100 worth of ammo for this gun, but I want to hunt with it.

Should be fine. There is surplus ammo from WWII that is still being used today.

They will light off just fine. The 270 Wthby is one fine cartridge.

I have not long ago shot some shotgun shells I bought in the early 70.s they where just fine may have lost a little ump but I couldn.t tell it
