I just bought my wife a 2002 durango SLT 4x4. its a one owner that was just traded in locally. only has 82k miles on it. Anyhow the last few days i have noticed a loud clicking/popping sounnd coming from the left front wheel while turning left. the noise will continue while going straight also at low speed. i checked the wheel bearing hub and it doesnt have any play in it. Also inspected the cv axle and didnt notice any damage there either. Anyone have any idea of what else could be making the noise?

That's what I was thinking as well, sometimes you can't tell they are bad until you put some stress on them. I had one that had no slack in it until I got it out on the ground, then you could tell it was going bad.

If u can grab ahold if the cv joint. Grab the middle of the shaft and wiggle it to see if there is any play. Or jack it up and spin it by hand and see if u can hear it popping.

forgot to mention. i did jack it up and spin it by hand. i didnt hear it make any noise. its almost like it has to be in a bind for the noise to occur

Pull the wheel and check the brake caliper. Sometimes they can make contact on the rotor. Loosen the mounting bolts and lift up on the caliper while tightening the bolts. Use to see this alot on GM's.
I think it a CV issue as well, but it could possibly be the caliper.
