So I put up an automatic feeder about a month ago, maybe, and I have not been getting any deer activity at the feeder. I put it on a main path which is an old logging road. I have been however getting many coon and turkey pics. I know the deer go through there because it is the the same place on the path which I had my trophy rock last year. So my question is what could be going on? Will coons keep the deer away or might there winter pattern be keeping them in the fields more to eat or could they just not be use to it yet.

Try feeding after sunup, say at 7 a.m., that way the coons have left for the day and the food will be there for the deer.

You might want to try to spread out a few bags of loose corn around the area. Simetimes deer are weary when a new object is suddenly put in their area.

I know the deer go through there because it is the the same place on the path which I had my trophy rock last year. So my question is what could be going on?
In many areas, deer have distinctively different travel patterns between the different seasons. Areas that were being intensively used during the fall months may be used very little by deer in winter.

Actually,if the corn has been out for a while, and no deer have found it,Id be worried about the deer population,no matter where you put it.

Anytime I put out corn or put up a feeder and I want them to find it quick I hang a jar of peanut butter upside down from a limb bout 4ft off the ground to keep it coon proof. If they dont hit the peanut butter in 3days then u certainly may have a population problem.
