Looking for a good Turkey Choke Tube for my Weatherby SA-08 Twelve Gauge 3 inch magnum. I may or may not shoot Hevi-Shot out of it. What is a good all around choke tube that can shoot Hev-Shot or any other kind of shot equally?

Hevi-shot choke tubes work well with Hevi-shot.. Kicks, Indian Creek, and Rhino chokes are all great too

Carlsons chokes can handle it all. From what I hear they make Hevi Shot's chokes too.

i have an Indian Creek in my Winchester 1300 shooting the 3 inch MagBlends. it patterns great.

i have the hevi choke in my SuperMAG shooting the 3.5 inch MagBlends. shoots even better.

whatever choke you go with, once it is in, polish that barrel. especially where the choke and barrel meet.

those 2 guns are only for turkeys and the chokes never come out.

patterning any gun for turkey hunting is not very hard to do if done correctly. Always shoot bird shot first to get your POI and POA tests done, then move the target out to 40yds. Shoot the bird shot again to see if the POI is still correct or close, then load in the nose bleeders to finalize it.

the main thing i recommend in doing it is to shoot on days where the temp is closer to the spring days where you hunt (yes some of those early april morings can be cold)

also try and clean the barrel after each shot so you have a standard to go by. if you shoot diffferent chokes and shells you will have a much better idea of what each does if you are shooting them with all the same variables. At minimum bore snake after each shot.

I have an SA08 as a backup to my 835. I use the Indian Creek choke and 3" Winchester extended range 6 shot in it.

Huge myth if the goal is to have a gun which patterns well inside of 35 yards.

For the folks who love the hevi shot and want baseball tight patterns I am sure it is, but for consistent patterns it should not be, unless the gun as point of impact issues etc.

I don't know what all the hype and fuss every year is, I have had a ton of different turkey guns over the years and every single one took little if any time to match with a load and tube which shot a sufficient pattern

the bottom line is you want (as a rule) a min of 100 pellets in a 10" circle at your determined range to be a sufficient killing set up. Whatever you want to shoot at whatever distance is up to you as long as you try and keep that rule of thumb.

NOTE** the 10" circle is not drawn on the board prior to shooting, shoot at the board then draw it around your densest area of the shot pattern. Will also show your POI vs POA this way.
