whoever it was that told me once you get the barrel nut loose on a Savage rifle that the action would spin right off is not telling the truth,,I exerted myself more on that than anything I have done in a long time,,
hopefully I will be able to get it back together tomorrow after work and get the head space set up ..
I am gonna get 300 feet of kite string and set it up on its bipod at the 100 yard target and come inside and pull the trigger with the string,,the scope off it will be in my safe during this trial also,,
I have faith I can do this but I have learned over the years that crap can go wrong in a big way,,

gettin there,,the head space was so tight that the bolt wouldn`t completely close on the go gauge,,,
I am gonna anneal, FL Size, trim and tumble all my Lapua brass and start over from scratch.
hopefully this will put a stop to the fliers and stuck cases,,

Mr B, I'd probably have more than 300 feet. 338 is serious medicine and I am kinda in love with my fingers and eyes.
Okay, you got the old barrel off, inserted the go guage, screwed the barrel back on, tightened the lock nut, did you stick a dummy round in to see if it chambered nice and easy, no muscle on the bolt, bullet not showing rifling marks?
The Savage I own has what I consider to be a very tight chamber and I am wondering if he go/no go gauge is in my future, along with a barrel wrench and some muscle......
