law on hunting near houses and/or road ?

i was asked that question today and my first thought was 100 yards because thats what i have been told all my life but before i tell this lady that i wanted to get my facts str8 but i cant find that rule/law anywhere
and how far from a school ?

The 100 yard rule only applies to public land. No minimum distance on private land.
As for the road, you cannot shoot on, from, or across the right of way. If you are off the right of way, and the animal is off the right of way on your side, it is legal to shoot.
All the above holds true for wildlife laws, but you want to be cognizant of reckless endangerment.

I would check that with local law enforcement nowadays. You might be perfectly legal, but every policeman within earshot would show up if you shot and someone in the school ordered a lockdown. You might be in the right, but it would break you proving it!
