Yep, I'd rather have the coyote than the cats! I shot a small coyote in the woods behind the house a couple years ago. Have regretted it ever since, My neighbors cats run wild behind my house now. Can sit in the rockers on the front porch without getting cat hair on you? Never had a coyote crawl up and lay in the chairs. I'd shoot the cats, except I'd probably wind up in jail for cruelty to animals. If I wanted a herd of cats, I get me some! Little terds walk on my truck too!
Wonder if TWRA would trap and release some coyotes behind my house? Lol

Yotes wrecking havoc on the neighborhood cats and yap dogs. Just about every week there is a new sign on a post. Yotes spotted three times by neighbors. Now on the farm I hunt they are dead meat if I see them.

I have never had anything killed in a trap by a yote....to include feral cats, coons, fox, etc, even though I trap in some areas infested by yotes.
I think yotes are very hard on deer and especially red fox.
They have a much smaller impact on grey fox.
I'm not sure they have any impact on coons.
Cats can climb trees. I'm sure yotes kill a few, but I don't think they seek them out. There's not enough meat on them to make them worth a big effort. They are not a competitor or territorial threat. Domesticated cats in suburban areas are probably easy pickings. But barn cats and feral cats....I see/catch the most of them in the same agricultural areas where there are a lot of yotes.

I am overrun with coyotes. I had a pack of three come out in my field this year. But even as overrun as I am, I still have a wild cat that lives in my field and I see coons walking thru the woods before dark. Cats and coons can climb, coyotes don't. One coyote was trailing a doe and her yearling one morning. I'm sure every area is different, but in Fayette County, most people I know shoot on site.

I would kill a skunk or coon before I would a coyote...I have always wondered why hunters hate yotes so bad.As far as cattle the cow would kill a yote in a minute if it messed with it's calf
I am with the author of that article ..the yote has it;s place in nature..mostly to clean up carnage ..but they are hard on rabbits I know for a fact. The skunk seeks out turkey nests and eats and destroys everything in the nest.

For a fact, coyotes kill pet cats and dogs. I know, I came home to find one of my cats dead and the other one putting up a good fight. WHen I showed up, the coytoe took one look, grabbed the cat and jumped over one of the orange mesh erosion nets.
Don't forget, a Glendale CA Mom had her infant sitting in a wading pool, unfenced back yard, and a coyote came in, grabbed the kid by the head and killed it, dragged it off until Mom scared him away.
KIll them all. Pups, All of them. No Mercy.
