I saw this buck about 3 weeks ago on an afternoon scouting trip, and went straight home to look it up on google earth. Just last week I got permission from the land owner to archery hunt and wanted to see if the deer was using his place like I thought, and whala. I sure am glad to get a pic of him in daylight. I think he is a really old deer and should be a tough one to hunt, but the way the land lays and my stand placement I should be able to hunt the buck without him ever knowing it so we'll see how it goes but here he is. He defiantly spotted the camera uh oh! I kinda think he'll gross 150 something. It's hard to tell from pics but that's what he looked like when I spotted him.

Nice buck, but I see a potential problem.
Bucks will travel over a mile to feed on soybeans in the summer.
His core fall range may shift considerably and far away from where he's using now.

You could certainly be correct Wes, but this year we really don't have any acorns that are going to produce and the neighbors have some serious hayfields with lots of clover. The photo confirmed to me that this deer is bedding in an extremely thick wood lot next to this field. I'm hoping he will stay but he may not. That was one of my biggest concerns upon scouting the property , but another advantage I have is if that deer wants to go relatively anywhere he'll either have to do it at night or pass right by my stand which is placed right in the bend of a river. This is all open land, the nearest significant piece of woods is over 3 miles, so I'm banking that he has lived in this small woodlot beside my stand unpressured for years. I've hunted several big deer in the past in this same type of scenario and they are extremely nocturnal. It is defiantly going to be a challenge. I think if I get a shot at him it will either be the first week of bow season or the rut.
