I'm going to plant some green beans this year, and I'm trying figure out what type to plant.

I SPECIFICALLY want the type that you see grilled or sauteed a lot, it seems in restaurants or in the grocery store the beans are more uniformed in shape, round, and long.

The primary ways my family eats green beans is in this manner so thats why I'm particular about it. However, we would also like to grow some green beans for canning (maybe both can be the same type).

I grow Blue Lakes which are great for canning. Don't know how they would work for grilling.

We canned 65 Quarts of Roma IIís, they are a bush bean and grow to a flat bean and don't have to be I guess the word would be de-strung. lol Add a teaspoon of sugar when cooking and the kids will eat there vegetables.

Sounds great, now that I know what you're canning. What about grilling and sauteing though?

We did parkers which came out well. The early beans are the best. Once they get big...they get tough. Great for canning too.

Fry some bacon. Pour off all but a little of the grease. Sautee your fresh washed green beans with a couple cloves of chopped garlic. Sprinkle with parmesian cheese.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Good!
