That's those cheap-arse made parts that are sold these days....

I know a guy where his draglink to the steering arm popped out like that.... nothing he could do but brace for the impact as he was driving down the road from work.... No steering so the truck veered off into a ditch and crashed into a concrete culvert.

Gald you or some of your family weren't hurt...

I don't know....I have driven dodge trucks exclusively since 1989. Totaled the first one, it had never broken down. Kept the second one just two years without a break down, I needed a bigger one. Had the third one since 2001, it has been in the shop twice, once for a cracked distributor on a rainy day and once for pinion bearings with 120k+ on them.

I think I have spent a whopping $300 in repairs since 1989.

My next truck will be another dodge, if this one ever bites the dust.

This has the Cummins and it hasn't been any trouble oh wait. Trucks aren't suppose to stay in the shop are they. I mean I maintain them very well. Oil every 5000. Fuel and air filter plu tire rotation every 10,000.. So it's in the shop some but 25 times in two years not counting normal maintance stuff lol. That's like more then once a month. Lol

The sheet metal and parts around it are crap though. This is not the same truck as dodge once made....You can look at the sheet metal and it will dent...the o2 sensors have been nothing but a headache. Something to do with the turbo went out or had to be cleaned or something. The fuel millage stinks. But the engine runs strong when I have it going. As soon as I get some dimes saved and my extended warranty is almost up I will be going back to f150s. I had three I put over 300k miles on in the 90s. Since 2000 I had two both I put 100000 miles on and never had any trouble...this is my second dodge since 2006 and both are proving to be junk. I guess that's what I get for trying to save a buck. the same package in this 2500 was 10g more for the f250. Now that I am finished with any long extended heavy hauls I don't need a diesel or more then a half ton truck. I can't wait until this thing is history.

ALL trucks break down! I have heard the same horror stories about ALL brands. That said, I had a 95 Ram 1500 that I put 285,000 miles on. Sold it when I was rear ended, but the guy I sold it to saw it go over 300,000 with the bumper and rear qtr panel whacked up. I did have feul pump issues that cost me $$$.

I currently have a 2004 Ram 2500 with the Cummins, and I had to have the transmission rebuilt at 100,000. It just turned 242,000 and I average 18 miles to the gallon. Not bad for a heavy duty crew cab.I love it. Sorry you have had issues with your truck. But to answer your orginal question.....a union worker made your truck, not God!

I had a dodge ram 1500 w/hemi, bought new in 2003
just sold it, 130K miles, all I had to do to this truck was a battery, and the standard ware items such as breaks and tires
I did go ahead and pay to have complete tune up and had vacuum lines tested to find a leak. So all together less the tires and breaks, spent less than $500 over 8 years, so think thats dang good
and yes, I would buy another right now if I had a job and the money, wouldnt have sold mine if it werent for needing money to pay the bills but my father in law is enjoying it.

Seriously get the F150 and don't look back. I'm a Ford truck guy and as you know am on my 4th super duty with 1 150 squeezed in there. I like the Cummins motor but it's everything else around them that's junk. That said I was still tempted to buy one a few years ago if I could have found what I wanted but never did so I ended up another 250. So far so good other than the fuel mileage.

I know trucks break. But to the shoo once a month over a two year period... seriously. But Dodge can go to hell as farr as I'm concerned.. this was a recall that they "inspected" 1 year two months ago and decided it was good according to service records. Thank Goodness God was at the end of my driveway and I hadn't made it to get my son yet.

I got ruined on Dodge from my parents having a Dodge Dart that was a HUGE pos.

Loved the new body style dodge pick ups but just couldn't bring myself to buy one.

Sorry for your luck.

There was a recall on that particular failure on some of the 3rd gen. Ram trucks.

I have 6 total Dodge trucks right now and just sold another one a while back. Mileage combined on all of them are pushing 2 million miles.

I got that notice and set up an appointment and they inspected it and said it didn't need replacing. That was 10000 miles ago.

I know all trucks, cars, or whatever can have problems and this Dodge had more than its fair share. I have a file that's over one inch thick of service records excluding normal maintenance records.

I took a chance and bought a new '13 Ram outdoorsman.
I got a Tundra with 250k on it and sold my Sequoia with 150k on it to my nephew.
Neither had anything but oil changes and regular maintenance.
Sequoia was contributing to my back problems so it had to go.
LOVE my new Truck BUT 1600 miles and its in the shop getting the power steering replaced \:\(
Lord I hope this is just an anomaly and not a sign of what's yo come....

Hey leader! Every once in a while it does happen. Back in May 1996 I purchased a new 1997 F150. At either 1,200 or 1,300 miles the power steering pump went out. It took 4 days for them to find a replacement part. They ended up pulling a part off the assembly line and shipped it to the dealer. Had a few minor constant issues with that truck for the first 18 months. It ended up being a good truck. Gave it to my son and one of his classmates rearended him on Hwy 70 one dark morning. I think the truck had 233,000 miles on it when it was hit. It had just started using a little oil.

Glad to see you went back to a Ford! Always been Ford but all trucks have pros/cons. and all have the duds.

Father-in-law has a 07 Dodge 3500 6.7l 6 speed dually with the jake brake and that thing is mean. Have been in the passenger seat for many adventures to Windrock, Harlan Co Kentucky and Choccolocco mountain in Alabama pulling a 8k pound trailer plus 2 toyota rock crawlers running 95mph+. Have seen it hit 110 with all that.
