Now would be a good time to get weened, 20-30 lb piglets. They'll be just about the right size by fall.

On average, they'll gain about 1lb per day (less when they are small but more after 3 months). and they'll gain about 1 lb for every 7 lbs of feed. After they get around 150 lbs, that feed ratio drops and they'll consume more but gain less.

that's another good reason to whack 'em out \:D

My dad has 8 now. We just ringed them the other day. It sure stops there rooting under the fence.

Excellent topic here IMO. I've noticed the piglets for sale on LSN lately. Would one acre hold 2 piglets until they reached 150#?

I agree. Some people raise 1 in an 8x8 pen. I like to see them be able to move a little. But all they do is eat and sleep. Like a democrat \:D

Good luck with them. I have never eaten a wild one but most people say the wildones taste better.
