If you could own a small piece of land, for deer hunting, and a little farming, and just enjoying the golden years which Tn Counties would be your top picks?

Hunting & Farming- Montgomery or Henry. Just relaxing and watching the day go by, somewhere up east in the mountains.

Yea Ferg, that makes sense (I better investigate that Dickson co. lol). I'm getting closer to retirement, and was just kinda dreaming. The harvest records, and quality of bucks would have to play a role too. I was looking in the mid to western Counties, and up toward Stewart, and Weakley. But had Montgomery, and Henry in there too.
Oh well, I better get back to work or I'll be retired before I'm supposed too!

I live in Morgan County and see and kill plenty of deer. West Tennessee is nice but east Tennessee is much prettier.

I own one place, have permission on two others, and hunt public in Henderson County so it is by far my favorite TN county but if I bought another hunting property it would be somewhere in WI!

Not everywhere is WI is that awesome, but if I had unlimited money, it would be Buffalo Co. An entire county decided to go QDM and promote trophy hunting as a income stream. Its produced a huge number of giant bucks.

In the eastern portion, Morgan or Roane for the deer number. Middle TN area Marshall/Maury would be fine. Most of those areas are affordable.

If you could own a small piece of land, for deer hunting, and a little farming, and just enjoying the golden years which Tn Counties would be your top picks? Just for the reasons stated, Lake Co., TN is my top pick.
But now for a multitude of other reasons, including just how does one "enjoy those golden years" other than deer hunting, some might pick Davidson, while others would be most happy in Shelby County.
Besides deer hunting, just how do you want to "enjoy" your golden years?
No single county has the best of everything for any particular person.

Thanks everyone, Wes, we'd probably travel around with a camper. But would love to have a small tract to come home to (maybe 50 acres or so) that I could hunt right there, and have some fishing nearby, and have a nice garden. Outside of a small town, we don't want to be hermits, but we don't want to be in the suburbs of a big city either.

I bought about 45 acres in Chester Co for pretty cheap compared to surrounding counties (under 2k an acre, and it is split between hardwoods and fields - also has a pond and a spring on the property).
As far as deer go, tons of them in Chester - some good bucks but a TON of does. Only hunted 7 times on my land and the wife and I took a buck and 4 does on it, and saw a lot more.
