I used to shoot an 870 for dove. After 100+ rounds you feel like you have been beat to death. I have a Beretta 390 now and can literally shoot that gun all day long and feel good when I get off the field.
The gun didn't help me kill anymore dove though. lol.

the last couple of hunts I have been on a 410 single shot would have been too much gun...

my lab picked up 562 doves that I killed with my 1187 Remington this past fall, my hunting partner would leave his benelli in the sack and borrow my spare 1187, nuff said, case closed

I would go with something in a 20g. Something Light. That fits you. My self I use a Browning bps with wood stock. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can shoot it all day and still feel great the next day. Bottom eject. Well I guess I have a thing for brownings period.
I usually do just as good with the 20 as most of my buddies with there 12s. Im also less likely to blow them to pieces.
