Texas de Brazil is good, but it's not unique to Memphis. For the price, you could eat 3 different meals at resteraunts entirely unique to Memphis.

Napa Cafe is a great out of the way place that the local folks like. A little more upscale than a typical burger joint. They have an actual chef making the food rather than a 'cook', and its excellent. Their address is 5101 Sanderlin, which is a block off Poplar at Mendenhall. Hueys has several locations and is a great informal burger joint (try the grilled tuna) that has live bands on Sunday nights. Great place to grab a beer.

Thanks I'll have to try those places. Yes work is paying so I'll definitly give those a try. I'm staying somewhere downtown, I'll book it tomorrow at work. I think somewhere on front street. I'll have to check tomorrow for sure

Downtown there is a location of Central BBQ. Gus' Fried Chicken is there, Cozy Corner is close. Local is a good downtown bar. The Arcade for breakfast one day is a must. Also, for a late night, Ernestine and Hazels is one of the coolest dive bars you will ever go to. Use the Trolley system and you can get to all of those except Cozy Corner.
