Had to wipe my eyes clear a few times this morning, when I looked out the window and seen the biggest blue chicken I'd ever witnessed, standing outside the coop. The other birds weren't impressed one way or another. He kept a safe distance from me, but did sneak back in for a few bites of food once I cleared the scene.

Bet they taste like turkey...

Can't wait to see the tail mount! \:D

He disappeared for a bit, but I think he's lonely. Looked out there and he's hangin with the chickens. I can't imagine anything being more of a poop machine than the flock I have on hand.

I just scattered some old cooked beans out to the birds, and he came in with them. Just saw that Isaiah, our old rooster, ain't skeered of him one bit! He made sure that peacock understood that there were some parameters LOL

That's the only way I can imagine they could stay alive in the wild in this part of the world. Plenty of predators willing to pick off a big, blue bird.

His display spread doesn't seem quite as grand as some I've seen. Wondering if he is not a very mature male bird.

I called one in turkey hunting one time. He got up to the dekes and strutted around like he was another turkey. A peacock was the last thing on my mind while I was calling.

They'll go wild, or semi wild. Somebody posted up some awesome pics a year or two ago of a peacock hanging with a flock of turkeys.

My father in law had one come in with a flock of turkeys one morning. Bird actually walked up and poked the end of his shotgun barrel! Looke the father in law over and walked off, never alerting, so figured he was a tame bird.

Yeah, if he roosts up above the coop and screams at me when I go to lock up the coop at night, it'll cost me a pair of shorts!

Today's report: Giant blue chicken roosted about 40' up an oak tree last night, and reported for bread scraps with the rest of the flock at 7 AM.

I have named him Flash \:\)

Are you going to remove all the bread scraps 10 days before turkey season? Or does that fall under agricultural practices.... ;\)

Serious question, does the bird call a lot and does he call when someone is coming? I hear they are good at alerting you to an approaching person

nimrod is going to have trouble fitting that peacock into his back pack on opening morning, but I'm sure it will make plenty of noise and get all the gobblers firing off

Let me tell you, they can make a noise. It comes to me now that some of the threads where folks talked about hearing these screeches, it could easy have been a wild peacock. Sounds like a Wife screeching at the husband about leaving bootprints on the kitchen floor for the tenth time.
