Pickwick smallmouth tips

Have a 3-4 day trip planned to pickwick the first weekend of march to catch some smallies. My brother is going with me and over the past year I've been trying to get him more into the outdoor stuff like dad and I so we can all spend more time together. As with anything, enjoyable experiences can lead to wanting to go more and more. I'm a largemouth fisherman myself and don't know a whole lot of tricks to locate and catch the smallies. The original plan was to stay in Florence and work the river down towards seven mile island and further. I know things like tubes, grubs, swim baits, Carolina riggin and spinner baits work. Any help from anyone that fishes the area on where to look for them that time of year. And no I'm not asking for you honey hole, just a general of what to look for like gravel, shale, depths ect
