Royal Caribbean is great!! You'll have a blast. I have been on two with RC and they will be my choice for future cruises.

I have been on that cruise and ship...You will have a great time. On the St Thomas stop plan on going to St John for the day and go to Trunk bay for a day at the Beach..The wife and I spent 10 days in St Thomas in Jan this year... Trunk bay beach is a must, you'll get some great pics on the way to the beach, and thats the nicest beach ive ever been to, and ive been just about everywhere in the caribbean.
I have been on 10 so far. I have to agree that trunk Bay is one of the best stops in the Caribbean. It will not be that crowded and the beach is wonderful. We don't go to st Thomas and not go to st John. It's simple but beautiful.
In the Bahamas I would probably get a taxi to Atlantis. At least to see the aquarium, casino, the hotel...... St Martin can also be another Beach day or shopping.
Look ahead at your excursions provided by rc. Plan ahead but relax. If you see one you really like my advice would be book early before it's sold out. You can save money doing things on your own but you must realize if your late getting back and you don't book through the cruise lines they will leave you.
And yes they do xray bags and can search your bag at there discretion if they see fit.
Arrive to the port early around 12 and you can usually get on board rather quickly without waiting to long. Once you get on find a place to sit and hit the buffet
Any thing you need to know just ask. Hope this helps.

Our last cruise we booked our own excursions through recommended private local services. It went great. In fact, as we cave tubed, our guys would edge us past the ship-booked groups going downstream. Then we headed back to their big pavilion for some primo home-grown tamales wrapped in banana leaves.
These vendors rely 100% on being able to serve within the time constraints of each ship, so as long as you check out their reviews thoroughly (again, Cruise Critic), I wouldn't hesitate to save the 50%.

I'm going on my first cruise this coming Memorial day. We are going to the Bahamas with Carnival. I would love to hear some ways to get extra alcohol on board.
They do x-ray your bags so there is a good chance they will find any alcohol in your bags.
Check whatever cruise line you are sailing with but most will let you carry on 1 bottle of wine for each adult and a "small amount" of water or soft drinks.
-Drink the wine before you go then visit your local brew shop. Refill the bottles(1 per adult) with Bourbon, re-cork and seal with a decorative shrink-wrap topper. No chance they will find it.
