Thanks...didn't know it had changed.

Try taping the door switch closed, then carefully reach in and spin the drum while pressing the start button....

Dryers are one of the #1 causes of fires in the home. The new ones are not anywhere near as simple as the older ones.Is yours gas or electric ?? There are a lot of things that can go wrong and make one Buzz.Bad switch. Lint can get stuck inside the motor causing it to overheat and buzz.Thermal switch could be bad. The bearings and pulleys can be worn.Broke or thrown belt. The belt on mine is accessible by popping the top off.Be careful and good Luck. If it's very old you might consider a new one.A repairman can be much cheaper if you load it up and tote it to him.

We have had this one since 1999. I'm kind of wondering if it's wise to repair or go ahead and replace.

I thought maybe the start windings or start switch was going bad on the motor. If it was mine, I'd probably not bother with repair. You can probably find a deal here....localsalesnetwork.com

14 years out of one is pretty good. The newer models are much more energy efficient. If you can get a cover off or flip it over see how much lint and crap is built up. You might get lucky and be able to clean it up.It is amazing how much lint and dust collects under them in a year or 2.If it's never been cleaned I promise you it needs it. Flipping it over may also let you see the belt around the drum.

$60 for a new motor online and maybe a hour or so too change it,,,,This week I have fixed the pump on my frontload washer and tomorrow I'm gonna fix my little sisters dryer (not heating). A dryer is a simple machine to repair not that many working parts... I would put my money into a new one if you decide not to fix it...Why buy a used one when the motor may be ready to go on it soon... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuP7o10SOG8
