OK..Whirlpool dryer buzzes but won't run. I figure belt or motor. When I take this thing apart if it is the belt will it be broke in half? Meaning will it be obvious if it is the belt?

When mine went out it was the motor. So I bought a kit to fix it. The kit was new motor, belt, wheels. I think it was around $120

the belt is generally wrapped around the the tub, so when you take the back off the unit, you can see the belt, you can tell if it is broken and is easy to replace, maybe not to find, but easy to repair

I dont think Lowes would have the kit, would more than likely have to get it from an appliance parts place, I know I did when I was in Memphis and had to buy washer parts and dryer parts

Mine had a piece of lint between the thermal couple and the heating element, it caused the drier to shut down. Take the back off and clean it really well with a vacuum, take of the heating element cover and check very carefully for lint built up and burned. I cleaned mine up really well and it has been working good as new again.

When mine tore up a few years ago I bought the replacement belt at Fred's Maytag on Kieth Street in Cleveland. I just looked and now it is called Mike's Maytag.
