What are the rules for Blaze Orange while gun deer hunting inside a ground blind? I don't know of any law forbiding this practice but doesn't it conflict with the intent of Blaze Orange clothes if the hunter is inside a camo ground blind so that his Blaze Orange can't be seen by other hunters?

As these blinds have gotten more popular, you can't rely so much on the orange color to warn you of other hunters in the vicinity.

You are required to wear blaze orange even in a ground blind during the firearms seasons for all big game animals except urkey (TCA 70-4-124)

It is a good idea, but is not a legal requirement, to have some blaze orange on the outside of the blind.

Seems that there should be a law requiring the orange to be visible to other hunters while hunting. I know you are probably most likely to get shot while moving through thick cover but even while you are motionless a hunter across a big field may be shooting at a running deer and not see a camo blind hidden at the far edge of the field.

I don't use these blinds so was asking more for the sake of others than myself. Thanks for the quick response.

I have a blaze backpack cover that i hang by mine. I also hang it on the backside of my tree when I am in my ladder stand.

Why are people shooting at a non-moving camoflaged tent?

I thought about this for a while a few years ago. I tried hanging orange hats on the pull handles of my hub blind. It worked good but I quickly found they blew around in the wind, enough to attract unwanted attention. I also checked out the top caps for ground blinds but they are cheesy and also blow around in the wind. My solution was to Sew 4 pieces of velcro, In a square 12 inch pattern, onto each side of my blind just above or below the shooting window. Then, find a durable piece of blaze orange material. Cut it into 12 inch squares. Sew a piece of the opposite velcro to each corner. There you have it, just stick them on your blind when ML opens. They don't flap in the wind, and can be left on the blind when collapsed for transport.

My blind has an orange flap in all four corners. You can tuck it one way and have camo or flip it over and have blaze orange on all four sides. Its not a big square but its better than nothing.
