So, everyone that is stockpiling ammo, and food out the azz, plans on staying put. Because , U cant transport 1/4 the ammo some of u guys are saying you have or are obtainig. If you head out in a vehicle, if even possible, youd be a floating duck, easy ambush! So there could only be safe travel by night. I agree with those that are planning to join up with people, and basically make a post somewhere in the country. Remember the show on discovery maybe? I cant even remember the name of it, but they put a group of people that didnt know each other in a city that was devistated, and they had to survive, and they had looters and everything come at them. It was interesting. The only chance they had was to make a shelter, and gaurd it by shifts, gather and hunt at best oppertunities.
Good post! It seems everyone is stockpiling ammo, but not near as many are storing food. If a collapse occurs, the stores will be out of food and gas in a day, and you can't eat ammo. In a few days the roads will most likely be blocked, and unusable
once all the vehicles run out of fuel and get abandoned. I 'm hoping it never happens, but don't plan on starving either.

Most people here probably stockpile the ammo to use to fend off people and use for hunting. Knowing how to live off the land will be crucial should SHTF. I only keep foods that are used more to supplement the meat I get.

'Prepper' is a word that the media has altered to mean someone that is a crazy, anti-government, gun toting, selfish person.
If you don't take their borg downloads and succumb to their ways they put a label on you.
I never heard that from the media.
Not going to hear it on American Idol.

Maybe, but I don't believe many people will survive trying to live off the land. Thousands of Desperate, unprepared, starving people will kill off most of the game fairly quick, and the rest will go nocturnal. Wandering the country hunting food will also make you vulnerable to roving gangs of looters and killers.

I believe in prepping but for the Doomsday preppers to get on tv and tell their secrets and to show their stash is stupid. Because somebody watching knows who they are and if the shtf who knows what someone may do to get to it.

That and, without a serious cache of salt, how does anyone expect to preserve this meat that they kill?

Don't know about any others here, but my ammo will be used to obtain food, as well as protect it. I am also staying put whatever may come.

I agree. Way too many people think they can "live off the land". Guess what? Hunters and NON-HUNTERS will be shooting up every animal they can for the meat. There will be no limits and no season and they WILL be spotlighting every night. Sure some will do better than others but no mater what it will be a mater of weeks before there are slim pickings for anybody.
You have to remember there are now 315 MILLION people in the US not the 350,000 people at the time of Daniel Boone.

I'm thinking most of those unprepared folks will be stealing, rather than killing any game animals. And that will be the big problem as you eluded to, roving bands of thieving looters.

And thats why a single family in a lone farm house out in the middle of nowhere is not going to make it. You might have 4 or 5 guns with you taking on 20, 30 maybe 40 very desperate people.
Find like minded people and join forces or eventually you'll go down.
