First responders called the hospital and said they would need hunderds of body bags due to the tornado damage. Just over 1,000 students lived through an EF4 tonado that night.

They didnt need a single one. God's hands protected every student and faculty member on this wonderful campus.

I was a freshman then, 9 hours from home. All I had my mag-ight, and the clothes on my back for about 2 days.

Lost my truck, all my clothes, and most of the hunting gear i had accumulated over the first 18 years of my life.

But not one of my classmates or myself lost their lives.

I am grateful to work at such an awesome place like Union University. It is a university that shares the deep Christian Values that many of us live our lives by.

Please take time to watch these two videos, this is an amazing place, and it is truly a miracle that we are all still here.

I remember that night very clearly. We have friends with kids there, kids I had known, been at my house for parties and such. It was a tough time until the news started coming back and then parents started calling trees to let friends know their kids were okay.

Awesome reminder
Some hunt for racks, some hunt for roasts. I hunt for sheer joy; the aforementioned items are merely fringe benefits.

Remember it well.. Live in Bells and had a cousin at Union with you.... God had other plans than to allow that disaster to happen at Union that day!
Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.

I too remember that afternoon. We were in Memphis and hear the warnings on TV-We got in the car and headed home--there was this very mean looking cloud to the SWest of us. You could see what it was from a distance. As we headed toward Jackson on I-40 it stayed behind us all the way, The radio was telling it's location as we went along. We beat it to Jackson and continued on and before we arrived at Parkers Crossroads it had hit Jackson and Union Unjversity.
I was scared the whole trip---altough my wife was as calm as a cucumber. She has never been in one.
