Is it legal in TN to hunt with a suppressor? Mainly for coyote and deer.

Yes. You are required to have proof of your ATF licenses on your person while hunting with one.

And said suppressor must be in owners possession at all times.... can't let a buddy borrow it and your rifle to hunt elsewhere.... you have to be able to take control of the item at all times.

Friend can use/hunt with it in your presence.... though.

To leagally own a suppressor you have to have special liscensing through the ATF. That must be in your possession while hunting with it.

Basically a $200 tax stamp..... and the ATF can come to your house anytime and ask to see the paperwork and suppressor to make sure the item is still in your control.

Guys, just for clarification, it isn't a 'license' that is issued by BATFE for you to have a suppressor or any other NFA registered device.

The paperwork that you are required to carry with you is your approved Form 4 from the BATFE for that particular serial numbered suppressor.

It is one sheet (front and back) and has a $200 stamp affixed to the front side, and your photograph and certified law-enforcement signature on the back side.

BATFE has said that they recommend you make photocopies of the original approved form 4 (front and back). You need to carry the COPIES with you when your suppressor is with you to show a law-enforcement officer if you are questioned about it's possession and legality.

The BATFE STRONGLY encourages you to keep the original approved Form 4 in a safe place.

On a personal note, I always carry two copies of the form for each item because past experience with contact with law-enforcement in the field has found it to come in handy.
