Hey I have pulled my wife with a 1448 Lowe with a 35 on it. Come to think of it I believe I have pulled her with a 1436 weldbuilt with a 15. Haha just to make her happy and most of all quite

For me, it'd depend on what body of water I'd spend most of my time on. I have a 17' and everyday wish i'd gotten the 18'

What's the price and fuel usage difference between the two motors you are considering? As far as fishing boats go, I can think of very few times when I felt like I didn't have enough motor and needed to go faster. I'm usually slowing down due to debris, stumps, no wake zones, shallow water, rough water, etc. Plus, I don't pull people on skis or anything. So for me, I'd always pick the lighter motor and save $$ and weight to shallow up the draft.
Everyone is different on this one. I think I'm probably in the minority when it comes to motor selection, but I rarely cover more than a mile of water at a time before stopping when fishing in most of my spots.

Motor size divided by 10 is gallons per hour at WOT (wide open throttle).

Crosshairy you are right. When it comes to fishing the 70 would be fine. Same goes with hunting. If I plan to hunt out of it the lighter motor would be better. But like I said I talked my wife out of a ski boat for this so you can guess what she is going to want to do. Ski tube wakeboard ect. When I'm not fishing. I can't find it now but somewhere on the net I saw it used 8.5 gph at safe wot. That's with the 90 I'm not sure about the 70. Talked to the dealer today and he was pushing the 70 hp believe it or not. UNTIL the question are you going to pull a tube or ski. When I said fairly often. He said 90hp it is.

There is rarely a time when you will wish you had a smaller boat, but you will constantly wish you had more room no matter how big a boat you buy. As far as HP, you will never regret rigging a boat with the max HP. Buy a smaller motor to save money/gas and you will always regret it.
Buy the biggest boat you are considering that you can afford and put the max HP on it. You'll thank me later.
