howdy fellow hunters. Well I been hunting Ft Campbell for a few weeks now. only seen 1 doe. this is really my first time deer hunting. my son and I have been having alot of fun enjoying the outdoors. we are die hard anglers and have been tearing up LBL fishing for a few years now. I just came back from deployment early rhis year and decided to gear up for this years deer season. so we got the right gear just need to see some deer. we did some scouting earlier this year in the area out by kyle. we wanted to be close to the lake area. found some bedding areas. we did not enter the bedding area, but decided to follow some natural trail we seem to feel the deer are running through. found some little clusters of oaks off a firebreak. but we aint really seen much. like i said were new to this. I feel like we may be doing something wrong. as for scent control. we use the dead down wind bodywash, and use the uv and scent laundry detergent. we take a spary bottle of scent block and using tinks 69 on our boots. well be out this weekend. we are determind to get one. we noticed that someone had been out to the area we was hunting cause we seen new foot prints. We scouted out a secondary area to hunt in case someone beats us to an area. Any tips you guys could offer would be great. its beautiful area out here. hell our biggest challenge has been putting these treestands up, kicking our butts! We got us some climbing sticks should make it much easier. thanks for reading and look foward to any suggestions or comments.

You need to invest in climbing stands. I'm not sure hang on stands are legal.

Correct you cannot leave a stand or blind overnight... pack it in and pack it out. Hang ons are legal as long as its not permanent and doesn't do any damage to the tree and you pack it in and out with you each time.

Good luck tomorrow. You could easily kill one bigger than last year in that area.

That's what we are using. Ameristep bone collector climbing stands. They are pretty light and have backpack straps. I know you can't leave any stands or blinds. We always pack in and out. Any deer tonight?

Im also knew to the whitetail, im used to hunting back west. Back there all the tinks 69 was doe in heat which can be counter productive if not used only during the rut. I would assume the rut around here wouldn't be till mid November my guess. I did notice today while working that bucks are starting to hang out with does, saw 5 different bucks today all were feeding with does in different areas. Maby someone could give us a little more info if this is normal for whitetail in "pre pre rut" behavior.
