I agree with most of what you wrote. In discussion about "banning" my thought from the get go was if someone is crazy enough to shoot people it makes no difference to them whether they can get 5 shots off or 30. I doubt very seriously that they'd rationalize and opt out of an attempt because they didn't have a 30 shot clip.
Where we differ is I do care about the ban. I don't own "assault" weapons and don't care to. But if there was a total ban and no one had them when the crazy people in this world continue to murder at will the cry will be that they didn't do enough and then they'll want to take what I do have...and what you have.

The ONLY part that bothers me is you seem to say you don't care about OUR Second Amendment rights. Maybe I read it wrong but you do say you are fine with YOUR guns.
To me the Second Amendment means just what it says and NOWHERE does it say anything about hunting or target shooting.
Banning a weapon from law abiding Americans is wrong wither they have the so called assault weapon or not. Those same people have Glocks that hold more than 10 rounds.
The outdoors show that was postphoned did it because of most of the people and business that was suppose to be there pulled out at great cost to them, ever archery people pulled out because they understood that the Second Amednment was met for us all no mater the firearms we choose to have.
